W40K - Ahriman, 20 años después

Ahriman, 20 years later.


En esta entrada os voy a presentar la miniatura de Ahriman que pinté cuando tenía 17 años y la que he pintado con 37 (entre medias, 10 años sin pintar)

This time I´m going to show you the Ahriman I painted when I was 17 and the one I have painted now being 37 (In between that....10 years without painting)

Cuando pinté la primera vez a Ahriman estaba trabajando los degradados y me encantaba pintar capas, mantos y otras ropas. Sin embargo, la forma de trabajo era tediosa. Comenzaba con un color oscuro e iba añadiendo blanco hasta aclararlo, haciendo un máximo de 10 subidas.... y aún así no llegaban a una luz muy intensa, pero por aquel entonces, me gustaba el resultado. Lo cierto es que al resto de detalles no les prestaba la adecuada atención.

When I painted Ahriman for the first time I was focusing on gradients and I loved painting capes, cloaks and other clothes. However, the way I painted it was tedious. I started with a dark color and from that point I added white to make it clearer, up to 10 times. But I even though I added white 10 times, never reached a maximum highlight, but anyway in that time I liked the final outcome. Actually I didn´t pay too much attention to the rest of details.

Ahora, 20 años después, intento trabajar con menos progresiones de color, y busco ir más directo al color final fundiendo tonos, aplicando filtros y veladuras y creando cierta textura, dependiendo de la zona. El trabajo de NMM es algo en lo que también me estoy enfocando, si bien aún me queda mucho por mejorar. En general estoy contento con el resultado. Quizás en 20 años pueda escribir otra nueva entrada comparando a este Ahriman jeje.

Nowadays, 20 years later, I try to work with less progression in colors and I try to go more straight forward to the color I want as the final light or shadow, using glazes, filters and creating certain texture, depending on the zone. The NMM work is something I´m trying out too, but I have still a long way to improve it. In general I´m satisfied with the result. Maybe in 20 years I will be able to write a new entry comparing this Ahriman, jejej.
